A network of automated monitoring stations was commissioned from YSI Incorporated to assess and drive improvements in the overall water quality of Tokyo Bay. Environmental conditions of Tokyo Bay are of real concern -- in particular the occurrence of blue tides (upwelling of anoxic water) and red tides (toxic phytoplankton blooms) and the impacts on fish, shellfish, and eelgrass beds in the Bay.

March 21, 2011 -- The University of Victoria in British Columbia (BC), Canada, has purchased three YSI SeaKeeper™ 1000 systems. The University will use the SeaKeepers to expand the VENUS (Victoria Experimental Network Under the Sea) coastal observing system, a element of the Ocean Networks Canada observatory system.

Recent YSI Ecomapper orders

November 1, 2010 -- The University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA, recently placed an order for a YSI EcoMapper Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). USC will use the vehicle’s water quality sensors, 6-beam Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), side-scan sonar, and acoustic modem to help its team research the roles of behavioral and physiological processes in algal bloom initiation and maintenance.
